Light and Dark

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5 NIV

I was sitting outside this morning next to my hydrangea bush.  It was slightly overcast, yet a bright ray of light shone down.  I noticed how beautifully the leaves were illuminated.  I took this photo with my cell phone … no edits required.  The sun brought out every single beautiful intricate detail.  I thought to myself; what amazing handiwork God.  You planned out every single detail of the world, even down to the formation of this leaf.  With all the darkness that this world can bring, beauty still exists and can be found. For all the darkness we would face in this life, God sent Jesus to overcome it for us. These small miraculous glimpses are a reminder to me of who God really is. It can be hard to find beauty in such an ash ridden world. I guess we would never really know or appreciate the light without first experiencing darkness. Slow down and enjoy the simple things… embrace those quiet moments …. that is usually when clarity will come.  If you are facing a situation that is troublesome and confusing … stop and take a moment.  God knows all that we will face, and has a plan to work everything together for the good of those who seek His face. His word existed before the world began and it remains true today. No matter how dark things can seem, call on Jesus – the light of all mankind.
