The Power Of The Cross

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – John 10:10

The cross is the most significant symbol there is in a Christian’s life.  It is like a big plus sign if you really look at it long enough.  People sport it on necklaces at times; I wonder if people really grasp the true meaning and power of the cross.

Anything that is good in your life, will add to to your life.  Anything that is bad in your life, will take away from it.  There are evil things that present themselves as good things; however, in the end, all it does is drain the life from us.

Things like money, sexual immorality, drugs, alcohol, wrong relationships….  Anything that can destroy your life, if you give it enough significance, will eventually do just that.  First in spirit, then physically.

If you keep your eyes on the cross, you will gain life.  It will add significance, honor, love, hope, peace.  It’s an addition sign, not a subtraction sign.

It’s a positive sign; not a negative.  Jesus died on the cross to give us life, not death.  While His death may seem like a horrible occurrence, it was done out of love.  It was also a part of God’s plan for our salvation.  To pay a debt we could never pay, in exchange for eternal life with Him.  We see that through Christ resurrection, that death is not the end.  He conquered sin AND death for us.  We celebrate every Easter JUST that.  Life.

The cross is a light in a world of darkness.  It is a sign of forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7), freedom (Galatians 5:1, John 8:36), unconditional love (John 3:16), healing (Isaiah 53:5) Peace (John 14:27) ….the list is endless.  Whatever you need, you can find it at the cross.  It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or what you haven’t done.  There is nothing you can do to earn his love.  Simply seek Him out.  His grace is freely given.  (Romans 3:24)

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33

JESUS SAID ALL THINGS WILL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.

That means when we seek God, and we come to the cross of Calvary, Jesus will literally ADD to our lives; not take away.  That doesn’t mean we won’t have trouble, but Jesus has over come all the things we will ever face.  We simply need to seek Him in everything we face.

The world likes to tell us that by living a christian life we are missing out on something.  That is a lie from the pit.  In Jesus there is liberty and freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17) and a promise that trumps anything this world can offer.

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12

I never like to refer to our salvation as some type of formula, since it really is a matter of the heart; however, there are three very distinct pieces involved.  Man + Jesus = Eternal life

You simply need to accept Jesus into your life + repent and leave your sinful life behind + walk in the grace that was given to us by Christ Jesus.

Salvation message

If you want Jesus to come into your life and help you, simply pray a simple prayer wherever you are right now.  There are no magical words or formula….but here is a prayer you can say right now.
